‘America’s Got Talent’ review: Sal Valentinetti (Heidi Klum’s Golden Buzzer) Lori Mae Hernandez, Duo Guerrero audition
So far this season, “America’s Got Talent” has introduced us to some memorable performers, including Tape Face (one of the weirdest mime acts that we have had a chance to see all season), and also Grace VanderWaal, a young singer Simon Cowell compared to Taylor Swift. Still, there are many more audition episodes still to come! That means hopefully some more variety and memorable acts.
As always, we’re going to be updating this article over the course of the night with more updates on the acts. Be sure to refresh the page!
Good Girl – These four from Philadelphia want to be the next Spice Girls. Talk about a lofty goal! That’s not going to be an easy thing for them to try and live up to, but they did have a much better audition than we expected since girl bands are really tough. Our advice moving forward is to do something a little more energetic and fun.
The John Rothman Dancers – This is the part of the season when the majority of America has a chance to hate us. We do love the story here and think that it is great that Rothman is helping seniors stay fit and dancing, but it was an over-generous reaction to what was a decent act accented more by the ages of some of the performers.
Russian Bar Trio – Redemption is sweet! They had to pull out of the competition years ago due to injury, but tonight they came back and got a chance to show how great they, still, are when it comes to this very specific (and very difficult) craft. It’s amazing what they are able to do, and they may be among a select few in the world who even can!
Kadie Lynn Roberson – The story itself, other than her upbringing, was somewhat predictable. She’s a 12-year old who loves to sing. She’s really good, and has the talent to make it far. Specifically, we like the almost-sudden burst of aggressiveness that she has that you wouldn’t even see coming the moment that she first starts to sing.
Duo Guerrero – We have seen these sort of high-wire balance acts, before, but this may be singlehandedly the scariest and most dangerous one that we’ve ever seen. What they did was shocking, since we haven’t seen two people try to tackle this at the same exact time. Even for just one person, it’s a risky proposition.
OneVoice – it’s apparently the battle of the glee clubs on “AGT” this season, and they were just as good as the one who came before them! What probably made them extra-adorable was the simple fact that these guys came complete with an “Office” reference where the football player admitted to having a crush.
Lori Mae Hernandez – A young comedian with a nice story about trying to help her father smile. Also, a really fun comedian with a big personality! This will help her as she continues to try and navigate her material in this competition. It’d be wrong to crown her as the funniest comedian of the season right now, but she’s got potential.
Viktor Kee – One of the cooler jugglers we’ve seen! Not only was he amazing at the pure juggling part, but he also had an amazing stage present and a unique presentation complete with whatever that outfit was he was wearing. We can’t wait to see what happens yet.
Sal Valentinetti – Remember Sal? He auditioned for “American Idol” previously, but he was the final act of the night, and thanks to when he performed on the show, it was pretty darn obvious that he was getting Heidi Klum’s Golden Buzzer. It had been hyped up over the course of the entire evening! We knew that he was a super-talented guy, but what he really showed here is a charisma and a humor that was perfectly suited for this stage. With this buzzer, he has a real shot now of making it all the way to the finale. Good on you, Sal.
