‘Penny Dreadful’ season 3 finale spoilers: First look at two-part conclusion!

Clearly, Showtime decided that they really wanted to turn next week into an event. After all, the next two episodes of “Penny Dreadful” are airing back-to-back, and this will mark the conclusion of season 3. Why put these episodes into a single week? Well, it does give them a chance to move into some other programming, and maybe they also feel like these two stories compliment each other in such a way that it really makes sense to air them one right after the other.

While there may not be too much out there at present in terms of written descriptions (what do you expect from Showtime, really?), you can at least get a small sense of the story courtesy of TV Guide.

“Perpetual Night” (9:00 p.m. Eastern time) – “Ethan, Sir Malcolm and Kaetenay return to London, where Ethan searches for Dr. Frankenstein. Meanwhile, Dr. Seward discovers Renfield’s secret; and Lily reveals a heartbreaking story from Brona Croft’s past.”

“The Blessed Dark” (10:00) – Well, this synopsis is actually just the same as above. Clearly, Showtime is being so secretly that they don’t even want to give you two different synopses.

The promo below offers some more creepy insight, and we are especially curious to see if anyone was gutsy enough to throw some sort of big cliffhanger at the end of this to pave the way for a fourth season. That has not been confirmed just yet, but we’re hopeful we will at least get one more batch of episodes to try to tie things up.

For now, can Ethan please get Vanessa away from Dracula? We know that this is not going to end well otherwise. (Also, we haven’t really enjoyed the Dracula story that much.)
