‘Masters of Sex’ season 4 spoilers: ‘Scream Queens’ standout Niecy Nash signs up

The cast of “Masters of Sex” had a little bit of a break between a somewhat-polarizing polarizing third season and the upcoming fourth one premiering later this year; we’re glad to see the show dive into filming again, and we’re also glad to have a little bit of casting news to go along with it!

Today, the news revolves around Niecy Nash, a woman who has been a standout in almost everything she’s been in from “Scream Queens” on Fox to “Getting On” over on HBO. Per TVLine, she will be playing the part of Louise Bell, an Alcoholics Anonymous chairperson who believes wholeheartedly in the program and its mission. She will be working alongside Bill Masters (Michael Sheen) following his court order to attend sessions.

Getting Nash on this show is a great step in so many ways, mostly because she’s capable of doing both comedy and drama, and she’ll bring a different energy to the proceedings than what is already there.

In other casting news, the site also claims that Betty Gilpin will be playing Nancy, a former student of Barton’s in particular who comes aboard Masters’ practice as another doctor. It’s probably easy to guess that her character will clash with at least one other person in the cast, given that these are the sorts of things that do tend to happen fairly regularly within this world with so many strong personalities in the same place.
