Teen Choice Awards 2016: ‘Supernatural,’ Eliza Taylor, Grant Gustin among readers’ Sci-Fi Fantasy picks
Over the past two weeks, we’ve taken a look at all of the main TV categories in the first wave of the Teen Choice Awards nominations, and had our readers give some of their own impressions on who should be the favorite to win. Maybe these don’t end up being an accurate reflection of who actually has the best shot of winning in the end (we assume that our reader demo is older than the Teen Choice one), but they are a lit of fun to do and therefore we continue to enjoy putting them out there.
Yesterday, we shared the results for the Drama category, and today, we’re doing the same thing for the ever-popular Sci-Fi / Fantasy category that seem to constantly get people talking on the internet. Some of the results this time around were rather close!
Choice TV Show: Sci-Fi / Fantasy – “Supernatural.” This one was fairly close, with less than 7% of the vote separating it from “Once Upon a Time” in second place. We want to see this show be a contender at the actual awards show (which airs on July 31), so we’re all about it getting a little bit of love here.
Choice TV Actor: Sci-Fi / Fantasy – Grant Gustin, “The Flash.” This was the closest category we’ve chronicled so far, with less than 1% separating Grant from Ian Somerhalder of “The Vampire Diaries.” While “Supernatural” may be more of an underdog in the actual Teen Choice Awards, we do think that it’s possible Grant and Ian could be the two guys going toe-to-toe to win the prize next month.
Choice TV Actress: Sci-Fi / Fantasy – Eliza Taylor, “The 100.” This one was more of a runaway, with Taylor getting more than half of the vote. When you consider both her performance and the size of “The 100” fandom, can you really be that surprised?
