‘Gilmore Girls’ revival: First look at Melissa McCarthy’s return!

There are many reasons to be excited about the upcoming revival of “Gilmore Girls” to Netflix, with one of the biggest ones being as simple as that you are getting to see so many familiar faces in one place once more! It was long assumed that the likes of Alexis Biedel and Lauren Graham would return, but getting to see other people like Jared Padalecki, Milo Ventimiglia, and Matt Czuchry turn up despite their busy schedules is very much a delight.

Of course, there’s one other big name we are beyond excited to see back, and that’s Melissa McCarthy. The actress, who played Sookie for many years, was a last-minute addition after it looked like her super-busy schedule and some miscommunication was going to keep her from taking part.

Just to stoke the fire even more, we now have our first look at her below courtesy of show costume designer Brenda Maben on Instagram; while some time has passed since the original series aired, it certainly does not feel as though there have been many significant leaps forward when it comes to Sookie’s fashion. For longtime fans of the show, that’s almost chicken soup. It’s comforting! So much of the excitement is getting to revisit so many people you love in this series.

The revival was recently given the title of “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life,” but no formal release date has been released by Netflix so far.
