‘UnREAL’ season 2 premiere: Shiri Appleby on Rachel’s showrunning style

UnREAL -The second season of “UnREAL” is coming to Lifetime on Monday night, and with that of course comes a very simple question: Who’s ready? This is one of the craziest, most-entertaining shows across all of television, and we certainly think you’ll be getting an opportunity to see more of that play out over the course of season 2.

With “Everlasting” itself, though, don’t expect that things are going to be handled identically to what we had last year with Adam Cromwell as the lead. Rachel has more power now as a showrunner, and while she may look to some of Quinn’s work as inspiration, Shiri Appleby makes it clear to TVLine that there will be some deviations here and there:

“There are a lot of things that Quinn does that Rachel would like to emulate, but Rachel wants her opportunity to do it in her way. She’s not really commanding the show in the same way that Quinn does. It would be hard to.”

One other major deviation here is that Rachel, per Appleby, will have a much more “professional” relationship with the suitor this time in Darius. In other words, don’t expect him to get closer to her in the way that Adam did. There will eventually be some trust between the two of them, but it looks like that could be mostly it. (Freddie Stroma fans should remember that Adam is going to return at some point this season, though most evidence out there suggests that it is going to be a brief appearance.)
