If you had any concern at all regarding the status of a certain Harrison Wells on “The Flash” moving forward, know this: There is absolutely nothing to be concerned about! This character, played with all sorts of brilliance by Tom Cavanagh, will be back in season 3.
This news comes courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, who notes that Cavanagh is still a series regular despite Earth-2 Harrison Wells heading back to his home at the end of the season 2 finale.
We imagine that the larger question you should be wondering at present is which version of Harry we’re going to see on the show moving forward. Given the Flashpoint story that was created by Barry going back in time and saving his mother, it’s certainly easy to envision that Earth-1 Wells a.k.a. Eobard Thawne in disguise is still alive, which is really bad news for everyone. Yet, at the same time will he really be after Barry if he isn’t the Flash anymore? We don’t know how the show will interpret the comics, but given here that Barry became a CSI in part because of his thirst for justice over his mom’s death, will that thirst be there still? We don’t know if he will be in the position where the particle accelerator will turn him into a speedster.
Let’s continue with keeping this ball rolling for a minute. If, hypothetically, Barry is not The Flash, would Eobard really be around either? It’s another interesting question. Maybe he is, but is chasing down someone else who is a speedster instead. Maybe the Earth-1 Wells is alive before Eobard took over his body. The possibilities here are pretty much endless, and that is precisely why we are going to be spending the entire summer rocking back and forth with excitement.
