‘Outlander’ season 2, episode 7 ratings: ‘Faith’ on the upswing
For the past few weeks, there was a rather depressing trend when it comes to the ratings for “Outlander“: They went down. Sometimes it wasn’t a particularly huge decline, but a drop is still a drop, and it didn’t exactly make us thrilled to see the numbers when they’d come in. While we remain positive regarding a season 3 renewal, it is always nicer to pass along good news on a weekly basis!
Well, this week we have just that, at least to a certain extent, in regards to this past episode “Faith.” In total viewers, the show recovered from its season low and posted 1.1 million on the night in live+same day ratings. This may still be its second-lowest viewer output of the season, but it is a rise of around 7% versus the week before.
As for the 18-49 demographic, there was a slight increase, but not one to move the needle beyond a 0.2, which is the same rating we posted for the show last week. (We don’t typically look beyond tenths when discussing demo ratings on the site.) These ratings are mostly for cross-comparisons on a network like Starz that is not advertiser-based. Total viewers is in some ways more important, especially when looking at measures that include official streams, DVR ratings, and On-Demand viewings. These are numbers that don’t turn up in the ones we are reporting here. The most important thing for Starz is that “Outlander” draws subscriptions and revenue in that way, and we certainly feel that it does.
If you missed it, Starz announced earlier today that they are moving most of their original programming to Sundays starting with “Power” later this year. We’re curious to see what “Outlander” could do on that night; there will be a larger pool of viewers available, but at the same time there is also more competition.
