Want ‘Preacher’ episode 2? Prepare to wait for a while…
Tonight on AMC, the network brought us the series premiere of a show in “Preacher” that was certainly easy to enjoy. If there is one word to describe this series, “crazy” would be it. It’s action-packed, incredibly-stylized, and completely different than anything else on television.
It’s also a show that has been put a little bit on an island in terms of the way in which it is airing episodes. Tonight’s series premiere is the only new episode that you will see over the next two weeks; technically, you should almost view this more as a special sneak preview than the actual premiere airing, since it came on tonight only to take advantage of “Fear the Walking Dead” as a lead-in.
Next week, “Preacher” will debut at its standard 9:00 p.m. Sunday timeslot, and it will re-air the 90-minute pilot then. Following that, you will get the debut of “Talking Preacher” hosting by Chris Hardwick. This is the first time that an original series (at least one that is not a spin-off) is getting an aftershow from the very beginning. Like with “Better Call Saul” season 2, there is going to be one of these aftershows following the premiere and the finale, but not at any other time.
Following all of this, “Preacher” will return on June 5 at 9:00 p.m. with another new episode, and from here the show will continue as normal … at least for a while. We still don’t quite know what the plan here is going to be for the Fourth of July, given that a “Preacher” will episode will air the day before presumably.
