Tonight, CBS is facing something that we’re not entirely sure they want to envision in their heads: A Thursday night without “The Big Bang Theory” on the air. It’s a scary proposition, but it’s also the reality that they are now facing thanks to ending season 9 a week ago.
Did the network make a mistake ending the season when they did? We like to imagine that ratings-wise, it would have been great to have one more week in here, but that also would have meant airing another repeat at some point before now to deliver the finale tonight. Instead, what CBS is planning is more or less the same lineup, except with a repeat coming on the air rather than a new episode. Many of their other shows, meanwhile, are putting out some new installments.
The tenth season of the show will premiere in the fall, and we presume that something more is going to be done when it comes to Leonard and Penny’s vow renewal, otherwise known as their way to make up for the fact that they did not exactly have much in the way of a proper wedding with their family and friends present. Hopefully, this will provide an opportunity to meet more of Penny’s family; when you think for a minute or two about all the possible people to play them, we don’t think that they are going to be short on possible candidates. We’ll have some more news over the course of the summer, provided the producers go in that direction.
