Joel McHale still wants ‘Community’ movie to tie everything up

We’re not giving up on “Community,” the beloved little engine that could that captured our hearts very early into its run. Even when it has uneven episodes, the heart and the soul of the series is still there, and it makes for a comedy experience like no other.

Unfortunately for the show, the prophecy is still not done. #SixSeasonsAndAMovie is a movement! We’ve already got those six seasons, and the feature film is really the last thing necessary to tie the story up. Joel McHale is going to be a major player this coming fall thanks to his role in the new CBS comedy “The Great Indoors,” and speaking to Variety in a new interview, he made it clear that so long as the right suitor is there for the movie, he’s up for it:

“I’m sure if somebody funds it, we would love to make a movie … The way Dan has already described it — which I could not agree more with — is it can’t just be a 2-hour episode. It has to have a real budget and it has to be probably pretty epic. We need money. Netflix has the money!”

The big issue here for now is that Netflix doesn’t have “Community,” and this is one thing that will probably need to be fixed at some point in the new future for something to happen there. Another issue is that Netflix is probably getting requests from a good two hundred shows at this point, all interested in a return in some shape or form.

Ultimately, let’s hold out hope that someone out there, complete with bags full of money, finds a way to give this show another life soon … even for just one feature film.
