‘Saturday Night Live’ ratings: Drake show down slightly versus recent outings

SNL -Here’s something that we certainly did not expect to see when it comes to this weekend’s new episode of “Saturday Night Live” with Drake as host and musical guest: Lower ratings. Just think about the guy’s popularity and also his cultural impact. Here’s the sort of guy who typically commands big numbers almost everywhere.

However, this episode drew a 1.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic on Saturday. While that is not necessarily a terrible rating by any means, it is down from the recent outing hosted by Brie Larson. This is still in the range of most episodes of the show since February or so, as the series has been in a little bit more of a ratings rut. Granted, this has to be expected since the temperatures have gone up across the country, and there are some other things for people to go out and do.

We do imagine that there could be somewhat higher ratings for the finale next week, given that it marks the return of Fred Armisen as the host. While he’s noteworthy in his own rate, you have to imagine that he will probably end up bringing back people like a Kristen Wiig with him or a Bill Hader, who are both extremely popular in their own way. For fans of the show four or five years ago, this will be a nice slice of nostalgia.

As for when we imagine there will be a new preview for that show online, think somewhere along the lines of Tuesday night / Wednesday morning. We’ll have more soon…
