‘Drew’ pilot featuring ‘Person of Interest’ star Sarah Shahi not going forward at CBS

CBS has pretty much today cemented their entire lineup of new sows for the 2016-17 season, and unfortunately for Sarah Shahi, it does not include her take on Nancy Drew.

Out of all the pilots not picked up on the network, “Drew” is probably the biggest surprise given that it was a show that had a lot of buzz and headlines going into its run. After all, you had the “Person of Interest” star playing an older version of the famed mystery-solver working with the New York Police Department to tackle significant cases.

While Deadline reports that the show is going to be shopped around to other places, at the moment we’re not going to say that we’re altogether confident that something is going to come out of this. After all, many networks already have their lineups filled, and while we could have seen a network like a TNT willing to jump on this idea three or four years ago, they’ve since moved into other venues of storytelling.

Do we think that Shahi could have easily carried this show and delivered some fun moments? Absolutely, but we also had some inherent concerns about the show, as well. We’d rather see Sarah play a fully-unique character with her own quirks, and have a Nancy drew adaptation be a little more like a “Veronica Mars,” something that at least had some more similarities to the source material thrust into a modern era.

Ultimately, we’ll see what happens with this pilot, but for now you can see Shahi on the final season of “Person of Interest,” which is airing on CBS Mondays and Tuesdays.
