‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7 finale review: Stefan, Caroline’s hope; Damon, Enzo’s dark twist

tvd -The Vampire Diaries” had another great challenge for itself for the season seven finale on Friday night, as it had to find an interesting way to tie things up, and also set the stage for a crazy eighth season of the show. By turning Damon and Enzo into crazy serial killers, they may have just done that.

After spending months trapped in the Armory, the closing minutes featured the two characters behind a string of murders on the West Coast. But why? Are they really of their own mind? We’d bet no, given that we had that voice (Nina Dobrev!) lure him back into the Armory in the first place. Pretty crazy stuff, but we’re always fine to see one of our main characters embrace their dark side. Let’s just hope Damon finds a way to turn things around.

As for some other character storylines, Matt Donovan experienced great pain before a vision from Penny helped him, and Bonnie ended up losing her magic and was struggling to find her own identity. Also, Alaric and Caroline are predictably over, allowing her potentially to be able to reunite with Stefan … provided that they both want it.

When it comes to big moves, this finale brought that and then some! The one thing that the show probably missed here is creating one huge move beyond Dobrev lending her voice. Having Damon and Enzo turn all sorts of evil is a nice twist, but is it really enough seven seasons in? That’s what we are not quite sure about. Grade: B.
