‘Sleepy Hollow’ renewed by Fox for season 4; Nikki Reed joins Nicole Beharie in exiting series

For those of you who do remain Sleepyheads even following the departure of Nicole Beharie, this will be great news for you: “Sleepy Hollow” is coming back for a fourth season.

Fox made this announcement on Friday, and it may be one of the somewhat-surprising renewals out there when you look at the live+same day ratings. Yet, at the same time this show is profitable for the network and the studio, and maybe they have a great idea in place for the story moving forward. Obviously, Tom Mison is returning, as are a few other cast members from the third season. One name left suspiciously off the list, however, is Nikki Reed. She played Betsy Ross on the third season of the show, and that journey now seems to be at an end.

New episodes of “Sleepy Hollow” will likely get some sort of premiere date during the upcoming Fox upfront presentation, but we’d be shocked to see it moved off of Friday nights. Why give it a better timeslot when the odds of it getting huge ratings there are not particularly high? It’s just something that the network has to be cognizant of and we sure they are.

As for how many people are going to still watch the show without Beharie, that remains to be seen, but we understand why the show wants to move forward. It was her decision to leave, so it’s a little bit of a different situation than what happened with “Castle” and Stana Katic. The rest of the show shouldn’t be penalized as a result of someone else making the choice they feel is best for their career.
