‘Galavant’ season 3: Is there still hope to make renewal happen?
Last night, ABC dropped the proverbial guillotine on a show that certainly does not deserve such terrible treatment in “Galavant.” We (and Tad Cooper) still believe in the show, and we’d love to see it back in some shape or form in the future.
Is there a path to making that happen? Well in this age, you never give up hope that something crazy could come about. If you had told us a few years ago that “Prison Break,” “Gilmore Girls,” and “The X-Files” would all be back on the air, we would have laughed hysterically. Also, “Community” got its sixth season on Yahoo against all odds. You have to think that “Galavant” could work a little bit of magic somewhere, as well.
As for where that could be, let’s examine the options.
Another network – Unlikely. The ratings for season 2 just don’t justify it … unless you’re talking about The CW. There’s an interesting case to be made here. Joshua Sasse has a role on the upcoming new series “No Tomorrow” there, and it’d certainly be easier to work out scheduling with him if you had both shows on the same network. Also, Timothy Omundson has appeared multiple times on “Supernatural,” so there is a support group there.
A streaming provider – Hulu has really been the home for the show, so they’d be the most-likely suitor. We could see them having some interest, but they’d probably want the entire cast aboard and it may not happen for a long time. Also, it’d probably not happen for a little while, but better late than never, right?
Other means – Kickstarter requires a lot of rights / legal stuff to be worked out; one interesting idea is a stage version, which composer Alan Menken certainly feels could or would happen in the future. We’d be down for anything that continues to give this super-creative show a voice, no matter where it ends up or how it is constructed.

There simply must be a wrap up movie. – Netflix would also make since for one last season.

This was by FAR my favorite show on television these days. Better than more of the same in the form of every other show on tv recently. I really hope something gets worked out!
