‘The Good Wife’ spin-off featuring Christine Baranski, Cush Jumbo may air on CBS

Remember the talk that maybe it was too early for there to be a spin-off for “The Good Wife,” given that the show was really just over a few days ago? Well, go ahead and jump up and down with surprise.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, CBS is working on a spin-off for the property for the CBS All Access platform that would star Christine Baranski (Diane) and Cush Jumbo (Diane) in some capacity. Maybe this is all about the adventures of this all-female firm Diane wanted to build? It’s too early to say on that; while this is not official just yet that it is being ordered to series for the platform, all signs are pointing that way.

For those wondering, show creators Robert and Michelle King would write the first episode of the spin-off, but would not be the day-to-day showrunners of the new series.

Personally, we’re more than fine with the idea of having more stories to tell in this world, provided of course it doesn’t do anything to take away from the original and its tale of Alicia Florrick. What makes this somewhat challenging to us is what happens if the show stays in Chicago. How do you avoid Alicia the majority of the time that you are there, and do you get many of the other cast members to turn up? We know that there are probably more questions than we have answers for at the moment, but that probably is going to change over the course of the coming weeks.)
