‘Supergirl’ renewed for season 2, heading to The CW

Supergirl -The great news for all fans of “Supergirl” is rather simple: The show will be coming back for a second season!

Now, comes the news that may elicit a variety of different reactions: It’s going to be heading to The CW. This change is one that was heavily rumored and discussed, especially when season 1 ratings did not meet the threshold that CBS likely expected given the rather-hefty budget. We will say that there are benefits to the show airing on a new network, though. For one, it will be firmly attached to the other Greg Berlanti superhero shows such as “The Flash,” “Arrow,” and “Legends of Tomorrow.” Also, this is a platform that will promote it and give it a chance to tell stories that are a little bit more true to the sort of show it is.

Will there be drawbacks? Certainly, including more than likely a smaller budget and a potential move to Vancouver that has not been confirmed, but feels likely given that there are further tax breaks there as opposed to continuing to film in California. It could be some time before there are some other details revealed, but we will present them as we start to find out more information.

In the end, this is a way if you care about story first and foremost, and you also really liked the crossover event with “The Flash.” We imagine that there could be some other similar events coming up in the future, though we don’t know how Kara would fit in on “Arrow” where she could probably kill any villain in the blink of an eye.
