‘Reign’ season 3, episode 13 video: Another look at ‘Strange Befellows’

There’s another new episode of “Reign” coming to The CW on Monday night, and judging from what we’re seeing and hearing about this story at the moment, there’s a pretty clear battle going on for Mary’s heart … or at least the titles that go along with it.

Let’s be honest here: Can we really sense romantic love with her so soon after Francis? It’s difficult, but the sneak peek below nonetheless makes it clear that there is a love triangle of sorts brewing around her, even if this is more than anything just a flexing match between two guys who are desperate to prove that each one of them is awesome in their own way.

Ultimately, will politics win out here? It’s possible, just as it is possible that the ramifications of this scene will play out in ways beyond just with Mary. There are several episodes left this season, and as we start to get closer and closer to the finale, we imagine that the story about getting to Scotland will become in turn more and more complex. Given how much of Mary’s life really gets going after she arrives to Scotland, it’s somewhat remarkable to think that we’re not even there yet. (How much of that story we ultimately get to see is really going to be to viewers, since their decision to watch / not watch moving into season 4 will be a key influencing factor in the show’s future.)
