It has been known for some time now that Clayface would be turning up at some point during the second season of “Gotham,” at least in the form of Basil Karlo. It’s a little unclear at present just what sort of origin story we’re going to see the show take for the character, but rest assured that you are at least going to see something.
The first appearance of this character is going to come on the upcoming May 16 installment of the show, where he will be played by Brian McManamon. The first photo is below, and it’s certainly creepy as this character becomes subject to some experiments from Hugo Strange.
If Karlo is to become the gruesome version of the character made popular in “Batman: The Animated Series,” it makes some sense that this is how it would happen with Strange being front and center for some experiments. Yet, what we wonder is if there is really time at the moment to utilize Karlo to the fullest given that we have Azrael still out there, and also people like the Penguin and Nygma who have further stories to tell. Also, don’t forget about Mr. Freeze or even Jada Pinkett Smith, who has been confirmed to be returning as Fish Mooney before the end of the season.
Ultimately, what we’d like to see mostly for Clayface is a sort of preview at the end of this season, mostly as a means to further set up what could be an epic third season coming in the future.
