‘The Real World: Go Big or Go Home’ episode 7 review: Dean’s divorce party; plus, ‘tip-gate’
Only a show like “The Real World” could choose to make a celebration out of somebody getting a divorce; yet, they managed to do just that on Thursday night’s new episode of the show. We’re not entirely sure how they did it, but we had a drunken blowout bash over Dean’s divorce!
Now, was this entertainment? In a cringe-worthy sort of way, sure, mostly in seeing Dean try to get with Kailah to no avail? It was all really awkward, especially hearing him say in a confessional that he felt weird about doing it when clearly, his actions weren’t really a whole lot of a reflection of that, whereas Kailah didn’t want to be the sort of person who hooked up with two guys.
Now, let’s talk real entertainment: A huge argument that unfolded between CeeJai’ and Jenna that seemed to come as a result of the latter under-tipping at dinner … though we think it was more the culmination of many things, from her offensive comments to the way she was acting about guns earlier in the episode. Even during her “task time” with Sabrina working on a song, she was pretty disrespectful to whatever poor producer MTV hired to help them with this. Jenna’s the sort of person who thinks that she is typically right, and stands her ground even if she’s on quicksand. Under-tipping is one of those things there’s really not much of an excuse for.
In the end, this season still suffers because of all of its forced tasks, but we’re not going to deny that there is something addicting about watching this season, almost akin to watching a slow-moving car crash. People get emotional, people get angry, and it’s all terribly predictable. Yet, here we are, continuing to watch this nonsense. Grade: C+.
