‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9, episode 23 video: Penny quizzes Sheldon on Taylor Swift

For those of you preparing to see more silliness on “The Big Bang Theory,” rest assured that the new episode set to air on CBS Thursday night will try its best to find interesting ways to make you laugh. To us, that’s important given that there hasn’t been too many roll-on-the-floor funny moments as of late.

Luckily the sneak peek below from this upcoming episode does generate a couple of laughs from a pretty silly sequence featuring Sheldon and Penny. First, he decides to quiz her on all things science; from there, he in turn is quizzed heavily about pop culture, and that includes the likes of Taylor Swift and the Kardashians. (Don’t worry, Sheldon: There are plenty of other people out there who wish they didn’t know much about them, either.)

There’s nothing of any real substance here, but the second sneak peek does give you another bit of insight into the main storyline: The return of Christine Baranski as Leonard’s mother. She is writing a book about super-intellectual couples, and that apparently includes Sheldon and Amy. Eventually, Penny starts to get annoyed over the fact that she isn’t getting any love or validation from Beverly. It’s easy to understand why she would be annoyed by this, but in turn Beverly does have a pretty good point regarding some of her own frustrations. It is certainly understandable that she would not be thrilled about not even getting an invite to Penny and Leonard’s wedding.
