‘Chicago Med’ episode 17 preview: Could Dr. Halstead leave for California?

Given where we are at the moment on “Chicago Med” this season, can you really be surprised that one of our main characters could be transferring elsewhere? It happens all the time in medicine, and you also have to remember that possible departures are the name of the game almost anytime that you make it near the end of a given season.

With that, we now come presenting some of the first details from “Withdrawal,” which is going to be airing on NBC in one week’s time. Take a look at the attached synopsis to get some other news when it comes to what to expect:

“April (Yaya DaCosta) and Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) handle an alcoholic homeless man with a broken leg, but they don’t see eye to eye on how to best treat his illness. Still grieving the death of her late husband, Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto) experiences a medical event after realizing her wedding ring has gone missing. Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) and Sarah (Rachel DiPillo) treat two elderly women with the exact same symptoms, but uncover a surprise that links the two cases together. Dr. Downey (guest star Gregg Henry) and Dr. Rhodes (Colin Donnell) operate on a patient refusing their recommended treatment due to religious reasons. Meanwhile, a frustrated Dr. Halstead considers a job offer in California.”

Before we make it to the end of this season, we hope that we do have an answer on Jay, though at the moment we’re not too worried since he’s such a major part of the show and a nice connection between this show and “Chicago PD.”

One other thing that is interesting here is the heavy focus for the most part on just “Chicago Med” cast members here. We’ve seen so many crossovers at this point that such a thing seems unusual in its own way.
