‘Arrow’ season 5 already looking to cast significant new player

Oliver -

Clearly, the folks over at “Arrow” are not wasting a heck of a lot of time when it comes to mapping out their future.

While there are still several episodes of season 4 still to air, TVLine reports that the CW series is currently casting a significant season 5 role of “James,” a man who sounds as though he could be a villain … though that is not necessarily confirmed completely. He is a “charming” man who is out to avenge something that happened to him many years ago, and per the describe, can “just as easily shake your hand as your best friend or break your neck as your worst enemy — and you never know which one is coming. Either way, he’s more than capable of having a good time as he does it.” He certainly sounds like a villain to us.

There’s really not enough to go on here yet to know if this is meant to be a twist of a character within DC Comics lore, and the “James” name is probably code. One way or another, he could be a series regular for the fifth season.

This is not the first time that the show starting looking towards the new season while production for the current one way underway. There were first whispers about Damien Darhk around this time last year, while prior to season 3 there was a casting notice out there for a character who ended up becoming Ray Palmer.

Personally, our hope here is still that Malcolm Merlyn will be a significant force for evil in the fifth season, though we’d also be thrilled to see more Slade Wilson, as well.
