ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8, episode 21 preview: Stana Katic, Nathan Fillion, and … the Antichrist?
For those wondering, no, the Antichrist is not whoever at ABC decided to not let Stana Katic be a part of the ninth season of “Castle” (zing); it’s actually a part of next week’s new episode of the show entitled “Hell to Pay.” This is sadly the penultimate episode featuring Katic as a member of the cast, and depending on what happens at the network, it could be the penultimate episode of the whole series.
If you have not seen the synopsis for this episode yet, take a look at it below:
“When an axe-wielding, escaped psychiatric inmate drops dead in Castle’s P.I. office, Castle and Beckett’s investigation leads Castle to suspect the victim’s death could be the work of the Antichrist.”
We know the finale is going to be all about LokSat, so it’s with that in mind that we’re not going to be upset over getting a story-of-the-week case here. Given how critical we’ve been of that storyline and how much praise we’ve poured on some of the individual stories, it would be fairly hypocritical for us to sit here and say that we suddenly want more of the long-form story we’ve gotten for most of the year. Also, there could be some humor that comes out Rick thinking that he’s dealing with the Antichrist, much like there was humor when he thought that the killer was a ninja or that the killer had a cloak of invisibility. Sure, the conspiracy theories are a bit cartoonish, but sometimes Castle’s unique “angles” help to actually solve some cases he works on.

I wanted Castle to go on to at least season 10 – and if the writers had done their jobs, along with the executive creator Marlowe – we would get our wish. I never seen a group of talented folks who continually shot themselves in the foot and now sexism on top of making some of the most incoherent moves ever seen with a show that was brilliant and successful. There is no Castle with Beckett this is what the show was built on. So, now… you, keep all the guys and get rid of the principle female lead and her best friend. This is gender bias at its best folks, shame on you ABC. Just cancel the whole show, because I will not be watching with the other half of the couple gone. Sign Seriously Disappointed!
