‘Penny Dreadful’ season 3, episode 2 preview: What’s next for Ethan and Vanessa?

Tonight, “Penny Dreadful” premiered on Showtime with an episode that can certainly be described in many ways as epic. We’ve been reintroduced to some of the established characters, while at the same time learned a thing or two about the road to come. Above all else, what we’ve figured out is that there is a twist-filled, intense stretch of episodes still to come over the weeks ahead. This may be one of the most underrated series on TV, so we don’t exactly have a whole lot of doubt about whether or not it will continue to deliver in some way.

So what can we tell you for sure about what is coming up? For Ethan, we’re going to see him continue to try and adjust to some of his surroundings, and hopefully he’ll get a little bit of an assist in the process. As for Vanessa, you better believe that she’s not out of the woods. (She never really is; it’s great news for Eva Green in terms of material, but not so great news for us.)

Showtime has released a brief synopsis below for the upcoming episode:

“Ethan gets help from Hecate (Sarah Greene). Evil forces track Vanessa’s every move.”

While that’s not the most revealing teaser in the world, we do find the promo below to be a little more palatable as it gives you some more information about various storylines. Also, it’s pretty freaky in a way that only this show can be. Watch with that knowledge.
