‘Lucifer’ season 2 spoilers: Show boss on early story plans

We’re now one season into the run of “Lucifer” on Fox, and for many of the fans out there, we imagine that it had to feel rather-refreshing to just know in advance that the show wasn’t going anywhere when the finale wrapped. A second season is coming, and while we don’t know when, we at least know that there are plans in place already to mix things up and feature some exciting stuff.

With that, we humbly present to you one of the first teases of the new season courtesy of executive producer Joe Henderson, who had the following to pass along to TVLine:

“The biggest thing about Season 2 to me is we built this world, now let’s play with it. Let’s mix-and-match our characters a bit, let’s see how they play off each other. I want to see Amenadiel and Chloe spending more time together, I want to see Dan and Maze together more. I want Dr. Linda with DB more, I want to see the ramifications of the realization of the lies he has told her. What I am very proud of is that we have this amazing cast, all of whom have chemistry with each other. Now it’s up to us to put them in situations where, similar to the finale’s Chloe and Maze, we can see who else bounces off each other in ways we didn’t expect.”

What we’re probably most thrilled about is that “Lucifer” is really getting to tread in some uncharted waters now, mostly because it feels almost wrong in an odd way that we’re lucky enough to have more of it. Typically with these sort of great-but-often-overlooked shows, the network doesn’t recognize the love and cancels it. So kudos to Fox to keeping it around, and we’ll just have to see what happens when season 2 premieres.

Also, we should add in here that we’re personally rather thrilled to be seeing some exploration into the mother character. There’s a rather lot of material to be mined here, provided that the right person is cast, and the momentum and tone from the first season is matched.
