Ratings: ‘Once Upon a Time,’ ‘Madam Secretary,’ ‘Quantico,’ others largely solid
We’re not going to say that Sunday night was a quiet night when it comes to television as a whole, given that “Game of Thrones” premiered over on HBO alongside “Silicon Valley” and “Veep.”
With that being said, what we did get a chance to see from the ratings for Sunday night is that these shows, plus the continuance of “Fear the Walking Dead” over at AMC, really didn’t have too seismic an impact one way or another on some of the ratings that we saw on primetime TV.
The good news – “Once Upon a Time” (1.2) tied “The Simpsons” (1.2) for #1 on the night in terms of scripted network programming, with the two making tiny increases versus the week before (which doesn’t really show up in the simplified data we present here). “Madam Secretary” (1.0) also improved its own rating versus the most-recent new episode. “Quantico” (1.0) was down slightly, but the rounding keeps the rating the same.
Meanwhile, “The Family” (0.8) continues to make its own incremental increase from one week to the next. This is the fifth straight episode to improve slightly from one week to the next. Will it save the show? That’s not clear.
The bad news – It wasn’t a great night for comedies we don’t really cover often here. “The Carmichael Show” (0.7) lost a ton of steam without “Little Big Shots” airing a new episode, while “The Last Man on Earth” (0.9) had a pretty hefty drop of its own. We do expect these shows to return to larger numbers soon enough.
