‘Vikings’ season 4, episode 11 video: Ivar the Boneless’ rise; also, a historical perspective

We wish we could tell you that Thursday night would mark another new episode of “Vikings” coming on to History, but alas, we cannot. The show is going to be off the air until the fall, but the promo below (which first aired after the midseason finale) gives you a pretty good sense of some of what is coming up.

Specifically, it hypes up the story of Ivar the Boneless, someonew ho may be coming further into their own now following the time jump, and they could be a significant factor for some time until we do get around to the end of the season. Isn’t this an exciting proposition? It is to us, but at the same time Ivar’s short history on the show has taught us a thing or two about some of the stuff he is capable of, and that may be a cause for concern for almost everyone else.

As for the second video below, you can see show executive producer Michael Hirst discussing further some of the historical perspective to everything that this show is giving us at the moment. Since we’re talking about one of the strongest shows of TV at the moment, it may be easy to forget exactly how much of it is drawn from legends and documents that are out there. Think of this as a nice way to put a cap on the past ten episodes, one that is going to be hopefully reopened with a new trailer well before we get too deep in the fall.
