‘Outlander’ season 2, episode 4 preview: The story ahead for Caitriona Balfe, cast

Claire -

Typically when we do these particular “Outlander” episode previews, we do like to have a little bit more to go on than we do at this very moment. Starz has not released much about the next new episode just yet, including a synopsis for it; therefore, we’re having to write about it a little more in blind fashion.

For now, here is what is fair to most-likely expect, given where we are at present in the story. Jamie Fraser is closer to solving the Jacobite Rebellion dilemma than ever before, but in order to properly execute his plan, he needs to engage with the Duke of Sandringham in a meeting. Unfortunately, the problem here is that Alex Randall is with the Duke, and he will inevitably learn the truth. We have not read the books and know nothing for certain, but we would presume that it would be a next-to-impossible task for Jamie to stay in the dark regarding Jonathan Randall. Somehow, there’s a good chance of him finding out. The question for this series is how, and also how that could alter his relationship with Claire based on what we’ve learned.

Also, we know at present that Caitriona Balfe’s character is likely to continue practicing her medical skills, while also preparing for what could be an exciting future for her. She’s involved in both Jamie’s plot as well as her own work, so she does have her hands full.

Unfortunately, we do know that the two parties do have enemies who are out there. You’ve got Jonathan, there has been shake ground in the past with the Duke, there’s a risk Charles could turn on them if Jamie’s true intentions are leaked, and then finally there’s the Comte. There’s clearly no ill will lost between him and the Frasers following the premiere, based on what we saw tonight.
