‘Person of Interest’ season 5 spoilers: A glitch in the system

Yesterday, we brought to you some of the first details regarding the upcoming season 5 premiere of “Person of Interest,” and we’re now rather thrilled to expand upon that with some more news on the second installment.

We’re talking this time about “SNAFU” airing on May night, which sounds to us intriguing if for no other reason than that we see the Machine acting very un-Machine-like when it comes to its approach to the numbers. It will be suffering from some hiccups, and that will make matters much harder for Reese and the team to figure out precisely what is going on and who is actually in need of saving:

“The Machine experiences a glitch during rebooting, supplying Reese and Fusco with the numbers of dozens of people not actually involved in crimes, while also locking Finch and Root out after identifying them as threats based on past violent behavior.”

First of all, we love the title, though a certain part of that may just be because of our love for the word “SNAFU.” It’s rather fantastic, and for the most part it suggests something going wrong in a comical way. It probably won’t be too funny here, but we do certainly feel like it will be compelling. This episode should set the stage for several more excellent hours to come, as we inch ever closer to what we hope will be a really fantastic end to a series, one that is arguably ending well before its time.
