NBC’s ‘Grimm’ season 5, episode 18 preview: First look at ‘Good to the Bone’

With “Grimm,” much of our enjoyment comes out of precisely the case-of-the-week. There are times in which these are incredibly entertaining, but also times in which we get a complete dud. There are a few exceptions to the rule here and there, since there are often great B-stories are interesting notes of character development; still, a really cool and creepy case-of-the-week plot can get more casual fans on board in a way that they would typically watch later either online or their DVR.

On paper, we really think “Good to the Bone” has everything it needs to be a strong episode for the show. It’s creepy, interesting, and you’ve got a notable guest star in Sharon Leal to boot. The synopsis below also does a good job of spelling out what the story ahead will be:

“When a man is found dead with all of the bones in his body seemingly liquefied and removed, Nick (David Giuntoli) and Hank (Russell Hornsby) find themselves in the middle of a gruesome family arrangement. Meanwhile, Wu (Reggie Lee) deals with a crisis of his own and Hank reunites with his old flame, Zuri (guest star Sharon Leal).”

The promo below for this episode makes it pretty clear just what the stakes are here, as the monster at the center of this episode may have him, and in turn, may be putting his life in a great amount of jeopardy. We’ll just have to see if Nick and company can figure out this case in time. (Currently, we’re betting that we can.)
