‘Shark Tank’ review: Slyde Handboards, popSLATE, Frends Headphones, and Petnostics

Shark Tank -Before we even get into Friday night’s new episode of “Shark Tank,” of course we have to acknowledge the presence of Ashton Kutcher as a Shark on it. He’s the sort of person who will instantly bring the show a little bit more publicity just by his presence alone, and we’re certainly quite sure they appreciate it.

Is he entertaining in this setting? He was the first time around, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens here. As with every other review we do, be sure to refresh this throughout the night for some updates and whether or not these businesses managed to snag a deal!

Petnostics – Will this revolutionize the way we care for our pets? While we don’t really know how many people are going to use this when it comes to testing urine, the technology is brilliant and if applied properly in the future, this could make a lot of money. Any chance for Lori Greiner and Kevin O’Leary to invest in something that is protected by patents, something that has multiple uses, and also something that could be scaled down when it comes to cost is a chance they are going to jump at.

Frends – Are these stylish headphones worth the price tag? This is an interesting case of a company that is making a really fashionable and cool product. The larger issue here to us is that this company has lost a lot of money over time, and we think that both the value and the projections are far too high. We feel like had they come in at a value of around $3 or $4 million with the history of problems that they have had, maybe they could have gotten a deal. That just did not happen given the situation they are in. No deal.

popSlate – Is this a great second-screen innovation for your iPhone? We do think that it was very cool, and there were simply disagreements in philosophies that kept this from happening. This is one of those times where you could argue that if another Shark was in the room, maybe something could have gotten done. While there was a lot of money put into the product already and problems given that you constantly have to adapt to new phones, we do think there is still something here for people looking to add something to their phone experience. No deal.

Slyde Handboards – How will this stand out in the midst of many other “Shark Tank” surf products? Thanks to an innovative concept and strong business sense, we’d say so! In a night that was largely full of Sharks balking at concepts, many were interested in trying to make something work here. Given that two Sharks are almost always better than one, though, we’d say that it was fairly easy to tell where we were going with Slyde: To Mark Cuban and Ashton.
