‘Outlander’ season 2, episode 3 preview: The story ahead for Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan

Claire -

Saturday’s “Outlander” episode was a critical one in many ways. We were introduced to the show’s magnificent take on the French court, and at the same time we also (quite unfortunately) saw Claire Fraser exposed to some rather distressing news when it comes to Black Jack Randall: The man is still very much alive, despite the sentiment that he had been killed in the season 1 finale.

We are not entirely certain as a non-book reader how this reveal will manifest itself moving forward, and that excites us since it brings us questions regarding the unknown. What we know is that the series will continue trying to navigate the political world of 18th-century France, while we continue to watch Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan’s characters navigate some of the tricky waters and find the right way to immerse themselves within the Jacobite Rebellion.

What we can go ahead and offer you now is the official synopsis for this upcoming third episode of the season (airing in one week’s time) below:

“Jamie’s days and nights are dominated by political machinations, while Claire finds solace in her healing skills.  As their plan to stop Culloden progresses, including engaging the aid of a young pickpocket, the past threatens to derail their forward momentum.”

The more that you think about it, the more potential hangups from the past could be out there. For example, you’ve got of course Jack’s presence out there, the Duke of Sandringham causes trouble in the way that he always does, and even a potential person problem in Annalise de Marillac, who has an attachment to Jamie from the past. Who knows (other than book readers, we suppose) what issues will rear their head next?
