We were waiting and hoping for this bit of news to break, and now, it finally has: Melissa McCarthy has officially joined the “Gilmore Girls” revival.
According to TVLine, the “Mike & Molly” star is going to be appearing in at least one episode of the upcoming comeback to Netflix, and will film her appearance as Sookie over the course of the coming days.
At one point in time, it appeared as though this appearance was not going to happen. Originally, there was some confusion between her and show creator Amy Sherman-Palladino on the subject of if she was invited back to the show, and when some of that was finally cleared up, another issue arose thanks to the fact that Melissa’s schedule started to be super-complicated. All of this basically led to Sherman-Palladino saying that she would do anything that she could in an Entertainment Weekly cover story to make a return happen, even if it meant having to prepare the lighting in advance and do everything so that Melissa could be in and out in a matter of a couple of hours.
It’ll still take some time before we actually get to see this big revival on Netflix, but rest assured now that almost every living cast member who was once a big part of the show will return, and that to us a tremendous cause for celebration. Once there is more on this subject to report, you better believe that we’ll have it for you here.
