‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5, episode 17 spoilers: More on Gaston, ‘Her Handsome Hero’

The moment that we saw that the title for the next new episode of “Once Upon a Time” was “Her Handsome Hero,” the more that we realized that this was probably going to be the Belle / Gaston story that we’d heard about well over a month ago.

Today, we’re glad to have some more details all about it, as it looks like this is going to be a rather enormous spotlight for Emilie de Ravin’s character both past and present. Be sure to check out the official synopsis below for other scoop:

“Belle turns to Rumplestiltskin with hope of finding a way to protect their child from Hades. However, they disagree over whether to use dark magic, as Belle forbids Rumplestiltskin from using his powers for evil. Meanwhile, Hades secretly meets with Gaston in the Underworld and encourages him to seek revenge on Rumplestiltskin. As the heroes try to find a way to defeat Hades, Emma has a terrifying nightmare that she realizes is beginning to come true. And in flashbacks, Belle and Gaston meet for the first time, but their blossoming romance comes to a halt on the eve of the Ogre wars.”

Given that Emilie in real life welcomed a child last month, we imagine that moving forward this season we’re going to see a little less of Belle. With that, this spotlight is well-timed, and if the character does disappear for the show for a little while, this may be a chance to get a little bit of further insight as to why.
