Who knew that Marvel’s upcoming “Iron Fist” series for Netflix was going to be such a massive “Game of Thrones” reunion? First, we had the news regarding Finn Jones (Loras Tyrell) playing the main character in Danny Rand; now, one of the Sand Snakes is also joining the fray.
According to a report from Entertainment Weekly Jessica Henwick, who played Nymeria Sand on the HBO epic, is going to star on this series as martial-arts expert / Danny Rand confidante Colleen Wing, a character very familiar to many fans of the comics. Henwick is also known for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” so she is apparently taking on one enormous franchise at a time.
While it’s nice to have some further news here and there regarding “Iron Fist,” the reality here is that the show is still a long ways away from premiering. At the moment Marvel fans have “Daredevil” season 2 to get through (provided that you are not done with it already), and following that there is also down the pipeline the “Luke Cage” series, which is likely going to be premiering this fall. Following that “Iron Fist” will premiere, and everything will then bleed into “The Defenders.”
Basically, there’s a lot to be excited about, and hopefully that excitement will increase exponentially as we start to learn more and more about the people who are signing up for “Iron Fist” moving forward into the filming process. Are there any more “Game of Thrones” supporting characters that the producers can find?
