‘Chicago PD’ season 3, episode 19 review: A series of captures; a Burgess – Roman surprise

Chicago PD

The moment that we saw that the title for Wednesday night’s new episode of “Chicago PD” season 3 was “If We Were Normal,” we had a feeling that this installment was going to be almost anything but. Last week’s “Kasuall with a K” was heartbreaking when it comes to the primary case-of-the-week, and this one was equally raw and gut-wrenching.

The case at the heart of the hour revolved around a series of kidnappings that turned out to be incredibly horrific. In an effort to give his wife the family that she always wanted, a man was taking women, holding them hostage, and then raping them in hopes one of them would be pregnant. It took several raids to figure out all of the information, and it also took convincing the wife that her husband had intentions that were far more nefarious than she ever quite realized.

This was a case that particularly hit home for Olinsky, who was willing to do everything that he could in order to protect and look after her. This is probably why he and Voight in particular went to such violent lengths to ensure that they got justice.

Elsewhere in this episode, we saw the love triangle between Roman, Burgess, and Ruzek hit its peak when the latter really started to feel like Roman was encroaching on a woman he still cared about. The problem here is that Ruzek still doesn’t know how to express it. Burgess still asked Lindsay for advice on dating a partner, and she kissed Roman near the end!

Speaking of kisses, who else cheered at that Lindsay / Halstead scene as the episode ended? Given how much serious stuff was going on this week, it was nice to have this little bit of lightness. Grade: B.
