‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 finale: Andrew Lincoln brings serious hype to Negan’s entrance
Sunday night’s season 6 finale for “The Walking Dead” is easily a turning point in the show. It’s a chance to be at the culmination of everything we’ve seen on the show so far this season, and we’re doing it with Negan at the center of the proceedings. If there was ever someone on this show to be terrified of, it’s him and he’s finally making his first appearance. He makes a huge entrance in the comic books, and apparently this is going to be reflected on the show. Are we going to lose a main character like we do in the comics or will the show move away from that and give us something fresh? Not much longer until we find out.
Just how significant is the character’s arrival into the world? Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Andrew Lincoln claimed that his reaction was “This is the greatest entrance ever written.” He also said that there is so much magnetism surrounding Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character that it is easy to feel a sense of envy:
“All of the guys were going, ‘Aw, man. I wish I had gotten this guy!’ … It’s incredible. Although it’s also kind of unbearable. Norman and I were like, ‘Ugh, all the girls on set are gonna love him.’”
You’re certainly going to be seeing plenty of Negan beyond the finale, given that Jeffrey Dean Morgan is slated at present to be a major part of season 7. Think of this finale ultimately as a teaser to almost everything that is going to be coming up afterwards, and we’re excited to share some of that information over time … or at least as soon as we have it.
