‘The X Factor’ UK: Dermot O’Leary confirmed to be returning as host

The latest news -The rumors about Dermot O’Leary’s return to “The X Factor” have turned out to be true! This week, it was finally confirmed by ITV that the popular presenter, who previously hosted the show for eight years, will be back for the new season airing later this year. There are some claims that the show has already filmed some with him, but we really cannot confirm anything when it comes to this particular subject just yet.

With that being said, we can at least bring you O’Leary’s official statement, one in which he sounds very pleased to be back in the fold:

“There is nothing more exciting than hosting live TV on a Saturday night. The show is naturally very close to my heart, after having hosted it for eight years. I’m excited to be back.”

We do very much think that ITV should be really thanking its lucky stars that O’Leary agreed to come back, mostly because this is a show that benefits dramatically from having someone who can at times keep things light. Also, this job is one of the most underrated out there. We really enjoyed Caroline Flack and Olly Murs on “The Xtra Factor,” and their struggles on the flagship show help to make it even more apparent why this is such a difficult job to do. You have to figure out a way in which to keep everyone on time and to be sympathetic with the contestants; you’re a company man and also a friendly face. It’s an almost-impossible challenge, but Dermot handles it well.
