‘American Idol 15’ spoilers: Trent Harmon, La’Porsha Renae, top 4 all head home!

For so many years now on “American Idol,” the hometown visits have become an iconic part of the show’s history. There was at one point a time when these were definitely headline news; think back in the early seasons, when you were watching some of these people go on to become major stars after the show.

Since that time, they’ve become a little more symbolic events. There are still crowds, but they are not as big as they once were, and with so many other ways now to become a star, it’s so much harder for a winner to get out there with a hit single that charts.

Luckily, the remaining four contestants in Dalton Rapattoni, La’Porsha Renae, Trent Harmon, and MacKenzie Bourg are all still going to have them on Thursday night’s new episode. The camera crews will go to different parts of the country, and we’ll get to see so much more of some of these people in their element, hanging out with people they’ve cared about and people that are supporting them the rest of the way.

Of course, somewhere along the line in this episode there will be another elimination, and we hope it’s at least after everyone sees their hometown package; the idea of someone unceremoniously leaving before that is the most heartbreaking thought ever.

Also for those curious, judge Keith Urban is also going to be taking to the stage for a performance during this episode, which is (hard to believe) one of the last one that the Fox series is going to have.
