ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8, episode 15 review: LokSat’s status; Beckett’s past
We have to say that there were definitely times during Monday night’s new episode of “Castle” that we watched with a massive degree of uncertainty over how we’re feeling about the show and what it’s become.
The great news about “Fidelis Ad Mortem” is that the nonsense of Castle and Beckett not being on the same page regarding LokSat is over. This really should have been the cast from the beginning; she should have just loomed him in and never separated, while he should have not hesitated to tell her about the missing time. The producers have made a mountain out of a molehill when it comes to tension; there are good long-term story arcs, but other than 3XK and Bracken, we’re not sure that the strength of “Castle” is in this realm.
Instead, we’re more inclined to say that the strength of the show now is in the story-of-the-week plots, and we’re absolutely going to say that the series gave us something entertaining tonight courtesy of what we ended up seeing with Beckett and her old academy. Any chance that we have to get a taste of Kate’s past is something we are going to appreciate, and we certainly felt that way about everything here. It was fun to get to see how revered she was at this place, and also see more of the side of her that kicks some butt and takes names. Through much of season 8, this has not been a side of the character we have necessarily seen that much of. We’ve been stuck inside reminiscing about the seasons that came before now.
As a whole “Fidelis Ad Mortem” was a mixed bag. For the story-of-the-week, it was fun; meanwhile, for the rest of installment it was more means to an end. Grade: C+.

The COTW was the best part of the episode,. everytime Loksat entered the picture it became a drag. If the writers haven’t figured out the rhythm of the series by now this ship has sailed. The difference with NCIS are the writers, if Castle had Glassbergs writers they would still have the great ratings of season 6. Episode 300 was as powerfull as ever.

As I stated before I gave this episode A. It was good to see the BS separation finally come to a end. It should of ended around episode 4, maybe if they would have let Hayley tell Rick about him and LokSat it would have. Castle was always about Rick and Kate working together on cases, and when Hawley changed that we started to lose fans and ratings. He should of never went in that direction. He was trying to put a spark back that never left, but instead put the whole thing out including The show. Time will tell if we get another season or not. We always being told shows get old and just run out of new stories to tell, someone should tell NCIS. I think they just renewed for season 15. But over all I felt episode 15 was so much better than 14.

Fidelis Ad Mortem was quite entertaining. I watch TV to be entertained, so I give this episode a B+. The episode held my attention throughout, and there weren’t moments that I would skip on a re-watch. The hook for fans of Castle is the banter and partnership of Castle and Beckett. This episode was pretty thin on that front, but there is hope that the next episode will have our favorite duo back to their true selves.
