‘The Voice UK’ review: Did Lydia Lucy, Cody Frost, Lyrikal, and others advance to live shows?

VoiceTonight on “The Voice,” we are at the conclusion of the Knockout Rounds, which means in other words that this is the time in which the coaches make some of their most difficult decisions of the season. We already know who Paloma Faith and Ricky Wilson are bringing forward to the next round; tonight, we’re talking more about Boy George and will.i.am.

Given the format of this show, which really cuts the field down dramatically from eight contenders all the way down to three per team, it is easy to figure out that there are going to be some huge cuts. There has to be in order for the competition to move forward.

Team Boy George – George selected in the end Cody Frost, Vangelis, and Harry Fisher. We really cannot say we’re too shocked by any of these. Fisher is a little more mainstream this his other choices, Vangelis is a complete wild card, while Frost is someone George probably feels like he relates to on some sort of personal level.

Team Will – Meanwhile, Will started things off tonight by predictable pushing forward Lauren Lapsley-Browne, the super-unique Lyrikal, and of course Lydia Lucy, who is probably one of the potential favorites at this point to win given her build-in audience that came over from “The X Factor” plus her talent.

Next week, the live shows begin, and while some of the singers left are talented, we do really hope that the BBC puts a little bit more effort into this stage than some of the others this season.
