‘Dancing with the Stars 22’ spotlight: Will Von Miller, Witney Carson be Most Valuable Dancers?
We have to think that 2016 is a really great year at the moment for Von Miller. After throttling many of the Carolina Panthers during Super Bowl 50, the NFL star was named the MVP of the game. Since that point, he’s gotten a chance to a variety of TV gigs, and he is one of three footballs tars alongside former quarterback Doug Flutie and Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown taking part in this current season of “Dancing with the Stars.”
In the article below, we’re going to do our best to detail why Miller could have a good shot of taking home the Mirrorball this year, and the sort of stuff that stands in his way.
Claim to fame – He is the reigning Super Bowl MVP and outside linebacker for the Denver Broncos, known especially for being a leader on the defense and putting pressure on the quarterback. He was a standout at Texas A&M before that, and hails from DeSoto, Texas, not too far from where we grew up in the Dallas area. With that, we of course are a little biased and want to root for him.
Partner – Witney Carson. This should be interesting, given that Witney has never worked with a partner who has this much of an athletic background. Instead, she’s paired up with Cody Simpson, Carlos PenaVega, Chris Soules, and won with Alfonso Ribeiro. He’s also much taller than any of these other partners, so this creates different challenges.
Strengths – Von strikes us as a guy who loves to entertain just as much as he loves to compete, and we’ve seen a few dances moves from him here and there already. He’ll work his butt off in training for the show, and he could surprise people with how elegant he could be out on the dance floor. He’s got a good teacher in Witney, and he is extremely familiar at the moment even to casual football fans. That should help him.
Weaknesses – Maybe Panthers fans aren’t going to vote for him? The only problem we can come up with here is that maybe entertaining in this way is somewhat new to him, but even with that we’ve seen him do enough comedy bits to know that he’s at least interested in giving it a go.
Prediction – At the moment we’re extremely high on Von, and it’s hard not to be. He’s a guy who really brings a lot to the table, he’s super-relevant, he’s athletic, and he’s paired with someone who won the show previously. Unless he’s just a complete miss right out of the gate, we have to think that he’s got a really good shot of lasting a while.
