‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ season 8 finale review: Phaedra Parks, Kandi Burruss, and … the Feds?
To say that the finale of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” was a little bit odd would be making a pretty gross understatement. We’re somewhat-convinced that this may have been one of the strangest finales for the show that we’ve seen to date.
For example, a pretty huge chunk of this episode revolved around a series of events with Phaedra Parks and Kandi Burruss that there is no resolution for: The Feds arriving at Kandi’s house to take away Apollo Nida’s motorcycle. Todd Tucker had agreed to store some of his stuff while he was incarcerated, and the question that we now have to wonder is this: Did Phaedra make that call? She didn’t say in the episode, and it’s hard to know if she will during the reunion show or not.
The thing here is that, for the most part, the rest of the episode had some lighter, funnier moments. This was the holiday season, and many of the Housewives were in the right frame of mind. Cynthia Bailey and Peter Thomas were getting themselves back on track, while at the same exact time NeNe Leakes and Kandi tried to leave the past in the past. There was a big holiday party, and so long as you ignore that whole Sheree Whitfield story, a good time was had by many.
In the end, we had a reasonably good time with this episode, as well. There were some highlights and lowlights, but above all else we’re just glad that some women are trying to be better and rise above some of their history. The Feds, interestingly, are the big question mark. Episode Grade: B-.
