‘Big Brother Canada 4’ review: Cassandra gets attention … but not the right kind

Cassandra -We really liked Sunday’s “Big Brother Canada” episode. For one, the edit was significantly more balanced across the board than in the past week. As much as we may enjoy Tim and Nikki as characters, we didn’t want the show to be solely about them. Therefore, it was nice to see other segments such as Cassandra’s date with Joel (really a secret mission for Joel), Jared and Kelsey going back and forth about her reasons for wanting Sharry out, and also Ramsay’s conversations with Loveita.

Overall, we’d say that Cassandra, our pre-show winner pick, really shined over the course of the episode. There were some genuinely funny moments in here for her, as she reacted to being a Have-Not after breaking the rules of it this past week. Unfortunately, one little comment (really, a joke) caused Loveita to think that she was a threat, and nominated her along with Christine, who was virtually nonexistent over the course of the hour.

Nominating Cassandra was a silly, baffling move since she was not even on her radar. Cassandra helped to save her! We were hoping that something on the show would give us some more insight, but it really didn’t. Instead, it just told us further that Loveita really has no sense of humor as a player, and handles everything in an extremely intense, over-analytical way. We were hoping to get some other insight into her strategy, but that didn’t really happen other than that she wanted to trust a “deal” from Kelsey, Jared, and Raul.

As much as the nomination angers us, this was the best episode of the season so far. With no real competition we got some great character moments, and we started to better understand where certain people were in the house (except for Maddy, who was more than a ghost in this episode). Grade: B+.
