Ratings: ‘Blue Bloods’ ties ‘Shark Tank’; ‘The Amazing Race’ drops; ‘Sleepy Hollow’ rises

Blue Bloods season 6The ratings for Friday night were hardly stellar no matter where you turned, but we do at least like to think that there were some interesting developments here and there.

The good news – How about “Blue Bloods” being tied with “Shark Tank” for the #1 show of the night in the 18-49 demographic? Both shows generated a 1.3 rating, but for the Donnie Wahlberg – Tom Selleck series this probably is thought of as some sort of significant redemption. Just remember for a minute here that this show has gotten some jeering here and there over the years for skewing old, but in this instance it really proved itself once more as a serious force to be reckoned with. It’s easy to imagine a season 7 coming shortly.

Elsewhere, we presume that “Sleepy Hollow” improving to a 0.8 is good … though it is probably not going to save it from cancellation.

The bad news – “The Amazing Race” dropped to a 1.0 for its final airing in the month of March. We have made our love of the show no secret over time, but it seems like no matter what sort of twist / gimmick is thrown at the wall for a season, it does not end up sticking or leading to better ratings. Most of the rest of the ratings on the night were fairly steady, but it’s still worth pointing out just how deplorable the numbers are for “Second Chance” on Fox with a 0.5. It’s amazing that it is still on the air, and it is only thanks to the night that it is.
