Alyssa Milano lands new CBS pilot; ‘Mistresses’ season 4 future in further doubt

CBS -

It was already pretty much confirmed that Alyssa Milano would not be returning to “Mistresses” season 4 as a regular, even though the show is returning to its previous filming location in Los Angeles. (For those unclear, that was why she decided to depart at the end of season 2.) Now, it appears as though the potential for her to be a recurring guest star in the future is even murkier than it was.

Deadline confirms that Milano has landed the female lead in “What Goes Around Comes Around,” a CBS comedy pilot that comes from Dan Kopelman of “Rules of Engagement” fame. We’re not exactly going to act like the particular premise is revolutionary, since this series (which also stars Jason Lee of “My Name Is Earl” fame) revolves around two parents who are trying to raise their three teenagers after having a rebellious past of their own when they were around their age.

While we’re not going to sit here and proclaim this to be the most innovative idea for a comedy in the world, that’s not really what CBS is known for. More often than not they can turn a relatively simple concept into a big hit with the right writers and people involved. We’ll just have to wait and see on this one.

For the time being, though, we’ll say this: You can expect to learn more about this show coming courtesy of the CBS upfronts this May. That’s when they will either stick the show on the schedule, delay it to midseason, or potentially just not order it at all.

For now, let us know in the comments what you think about the idea! Also, sign up over here in the event you want some other TV news on everything we cover, sent right over to you via our official CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: CBS.)
