‘The Blacklist’ season 3 spoilers: Prepare to meet a new Big Bad

Just in case we had not seen enough supremely vicious opponents to Raymond Reddington on “The Blacklist,” we now have the following bit of news to report right now: A major threat is coming, and not only will they be around for the end of this season, but their role will continue well into season 4.

Per TVLine, the series is casting an actor in his fifties / early sixties to play Alexander Kirk, a man with a deep history with James Spader’s character who could become a major threat to him. Here’s the current character description:

“Charming and charismatic, he is a multi-national businessman whose strong personal ethics and whip-sharp intelligence have made him a major player on the world stage. He is now using his power and resources to strike back against his longtime nemesis, Raymond Reddington.”

We have to imagine that the show is going to have a rather lengthy list of choices for this role, given the fact that “The Blacklist” has carved out so many great spots for people in the past. While we’re not going to say that this is the ratings juggernaut that it once was, we do still feel like this is the sort of show that appeals to character actors looking to play someone a little bit off-kilter. Plus, you get to work with one of the best actors currently working on TV. What’s not to like?
