‘Madam Secretary’ season 2, episode 16: Tim Daly on Henry’s new gig

Secretary -The past few episodes of “Madam Secretary” have certainly been quite the turnaround for the Henry McCord character. At one point, it was looking as though we were going to see the character die from a form of radiation poisoning, but now, he’s not only alive, but he is going to be able to put some of his skills to use for a special anti-terrorism task force organized by President Dalton. He will have a chance to work more with Elizabeth, and as a result be a little more involved in the story … at least in theory.

What may surprise you is how Tim Daly tells TVLine that despite the new gig, we may be seeing an experience for the character that is really not that different from what we saw before:

“[It’s not] that different. It’s just that now there’s a place for him to go. The president has created a specific task force, and so he has an office. He has a place where he goes every day, rather than waiting for the phone to ring and going to show up at a coffee shop or an apartment. The other thing that looks different is now that he’s officially on this task force, he can actually speak with Elizabeth about what he’s doing — which is a huge relief for both of them, because they can have conversations and not have to completely leave half their life, which is work, out of their home life.”

Ultimately, the big change is more in the form of conversation than where we’ll see him in terms of physical location, and with so much of the remainder of the season now up in the air (some of the bigger arcs this season have already been touched on), we’re excited to see what happens.
